Replacing Grout

Where there is chipped and cracked grout there is the possibility of water damage, why not fix it, it's easy to do!

1. Remove the damaged grout with a grout saw; pick it up at any home improvement center. The rule of thumb is, if the grout is slightly damaged and the cracks aren't too deep saw out the grout down to half of the depth of the tile. If there are pieces of grout missing and it is really damaged remove all of the loose and chipped grout.

2. Vacuum the dust and debris out from between the tiles so you have a nice clean area to work.

3. Mix your grout according to the package directions. Then force the grout in between the tiles with a float. Hold it at an angle and work diagonally to make sure you get it into all of the crevices.

4. Immediately remove all excess grout with a damp sponge. Feather the new grout into the old so that the repair is not so noticeable.

5. Allow it to dry completely. As it dries it may develop a haze, you can rub that off with a damp sponge as well.
