Furniture Care

Reinforce Drawer Pulls

If you have older drawers you may know how frustrating it is when the drawer pull comes off when opening the drawer. Here's an easy way to reinforce it!

1. Use a putty knife to fill all of the holes with wood putty. Pack the putty in there, and then allow it to dry.

2. Sand the surface of the drawer where you packed the putty. Make sure that it's nice and smooth so you won't be able to see the repair.

3. Pre-drill holes for the new screws, and then clean up all of the sanding and drilling dust with a damp cloth.

4. Grab some longer screws that will fit through the knob and the drawer front and that have a nut to secure to the end. Put the drawer pull back and screw into place. Then use a small wrench to securely tighten the nut on the inside of the drawer.
