Paint Tips and Ideas

Paint Tool Prep

I'm sure you know how to prep a room for a paint job, but what about your tools? Well I have some easy ideas to get you to a picture perfect finish!

1. Comb through paintbrushes to pull out any loose bristles before you start. This way you're less likely to end up with bristles in your paint finish.

2. Prevent a fuzzy finish by getting rid of roller lint. Take some wide masking tape and wrap it around your roller cover, then pull the tape off along with all the loose fuzzies!

3. If you hate the paint build-up that gets on the edges of your roller, prevent the mess by coating the ends with petroleum jelly before you start, this will also work on the metal rim around your paintbrushes, or your hands for that matter!

4. To prevent having to clean up the roller pan, line the pan with a disposable liner, aluminum foil or even a plastic grocery bag for easy to toss protection that will save a ton of time!

Wallpaper Borders with Wainscoting Create Room Elegance
You can achieve elegant room décor by matching wallpaper borders with wainscoting. Simple painted walls look very plain even when using colorful paints. At one time, wainscoting was seen only in very expensive homes, but it's now used in all size of houses as a way to add a decorative touch. When the wainscoting is offset with wallpaper borders, it looks like the room was decorated by a professional interior decorator.
