Paint Tips and Ideas

Paint Stains

Lets face it, paint spills are a big mess, but they don't have to be permanent. I have some easy tips to help you get rid of any latex paint stain.

1. On fabric and carpeting act as quickly as possible, scrape up as much as you can with an old spoon. Have several damp white cloths on hand. Blot the stain to absorb the paint, switching rags as each becomes saturated. Once most of the stain is gone clean well with warm soapy water. For carpeting, put a white towel over the area and walk on it to remove excess moisture. Then, allow it to dry completely.

2. Drop cloth didn't quite do the job on your wood floors? Don't worry; dried paint on wood can be removed by spreading a thin layer of olive oil over the stain. Let it sit for five minutes and then buff it out with some quad zero steel wool. When the stain is removed clean the area with a damp cloth.

3. Splotches on plastic, glass, and bathroom surfaces can be removed by holding a cloth saturated in rubbing alcohol over the spill to soften it, then use a razor blade to easily scrape it away.

Wallpaper Borders with Wainscoting Create Room Elegance
You can achieve elegant room décor by matching wallpaper borders with wainscoting. Simple painted walls look very plain even when using colorful paints. At one time, wainscoting was seen only in very expensive homes, but it's now used in all size of houses as a way to add a decorative touch. When the wainscoting is offset with wallpaper borders, it looks like the room was decorated by a professional interior decorator.
