Clean it-up "around the house"

Maintain Wood Cabinets

If you have wood cabinets in your kitchen you know how dirty they can get, and they seem so hard to clean. Maybe you just don't have the right solution.

1. Cold tea is a great cleaner for wood; just brew up a big batch in the morning and let it cool off. Use the tea and a soft cloth to clean your cabinets. It will cut right through the grime.

2. Another great way to clean your cabinets is to mix two cups of baking soda into a gallon of warm water. Use a washcloth to scrub the cabinets with the mixture. Work in small areas and wipe with a clean cloth when the grime is gone so you don'thave a baking soda residue. (Or try a weak ammonia and water mixture to cut that grime.)

3. The oils in your skin can cause wood cabinets to develop a sticky film. If your wood has that sticky residue on it, try wiping the area with some mineral spirits on a soft cloth. The mineral spirits will dissolve the residue, then just clean the area with some warm water. This also works great for kitchen chairs.
