Lawn Care

The grass is always greener on the other side, right?!?! Well I have some hints to help your lawn be the envy of the neighborhood.

1. Leave the clippings where they lie, grass clippings can actually help fertilize your lawn. A mulching mower is a big help. It makes the clippings fine enough so they filter into the grass and rest on the soil where they're most beneficial. Don't have a mulching mower; just mow more often so the clippings are finer.

2. Water your lawn early in the morning before the heat of the day evaporates the much-needed moisture. And speaking of watering, if you put tent stakes around your flowerbeds it will prevent you from pulling the hose across your flowers when watering.

3. If you find your lawn with a bare spot pull a rake across the soil to loosen it up. Sprinkle some seed over the area. Make sure you choose the right seed for the location you're patching. Then all you have to do is water every day. It's a good idea to stake off the area surrounding the patch so that there is no traffic while the seed takes root.

4. Finally, if stray cats and dogs are infiltrating your yard sprinkle some red pepper sauce around the outside edge, it will keep those visitors at bay.
