Ladder Tips

Everybody needs a ladder once in a while, but using one can sometimes be a chore. I have a few ideas that should make it easier!

1. If your ladder swings open while you're carrying it, a little hook and eye door latch is all you need. Turn your ladder on its side, and screw the latch into one leg of the ladder. Then screw the eye into the other side. Then you can latch the ladder closed for carrying and unlatch it when you're ready to use it.

2. Or, try a bike basket. It already has straps attached to hold it in place!

3. If the ground is soft where you're working, and your ladder keeps sinking, grab an old piece of plywood. Drive several long nails through the plywood so they're sticking out the bottom. Then put the board on the ground. The nails will go into the soil and give you a steady base to put your ladder on. Just make sure that when you're done you take out the nails so nobody gets hurt!
