Jigsaws
If you work on a lot of projects that you need to cut curves,
then you need a jigsaw!
1. For versatility you want to choose a variable speed
saw so you can change the speed depending upon the type of wood
you're cutting and the type of blade you choose. A rule of
thumb: when using coarse tooth blades use a faster speed, and
use a low speed for fine tooth blades.
2. When using a jigsaw, be sure to hold the base plate
firmly against your project, this will steady the tools
vibrations and give you a cleaner finish.
3. Another easy way to a nice finish is to remember to
work slowly. If you try to speed through a job your saw will
bounce around and the blade could snap and cause serious injury.
4. Unlike most other saws, jigsaws cut on the upward
stroke, so the top side has a tendency to splinter. Make sure
you flip it so the good side or the finished side is facing
down, and any damage will be on the back! |
