Fixing Ceramic Disk Faucets

1. First, turn off the water supply at the shutoff valves. Then rotate the faucet spout to one side and raise the handle to expose the setscrew. Remove the setscrew and lift off the handle.

2. Unscrew the escutcheon cap to remove it. Take out the cartridge mounting screws and lift out the cylinder. If it's stubborn, grasp the cylinder lever with a pair of pliers and gently pull the cylinder straight out.

3. Remove the old neoprene seals from the cylinder openings.

4. Clean the cylinder openings with a scouring pad. Rinse the cylinder with clear water.

5. Put new seals into the cylinder openings and reassemble the faucet. To prevent cracking the ceramic disks with sudden water pressure, move the handle to the ON position and then SLOWLY open the shutoff valves. When the water runs steadily, close the faucet.
