Fertilizers

It's easy to keep your garden beautiful; keep it fertilized. Here are some easy ways to do it.

1. Make an easy all purpose fertilizer by mixing together 2 teaspoons of ammonia and a gallon of water. Let the mixture sit for 24 hours or so and then sprinkle it over your plants. Make sure that you only use 2 teaspoons of ammonia to each gallon of water, because a stronger mixture can damage your plants.

2. For acid loving plants, sprinkle some coffee grounds on the soil around the plant. The grounds add acidity to the soil.

3. Another easy boost for acid loving plants is to mix a couple of tablespoons of vinegar together with a quart of water and water the plants with that!

4. For a more alkaline soil, sprinkle some fireplace ashes around.

5. Want a mulch that will also serve as a fertilizer? Try sawdust; you should stay away from wood the has been chemically treated, but otherwise the sawdust mulch adds nutrients to the soil.
