Exterior Paint
Reviews and Proper Paint Selection
Exterior paint reviews are helpful when you're trying to determine
but buying the right paint goes further than the advice of others.
Choosing the right paint is important and will not only protect it
from the weather and environment but it should also last eight years
or more.
So how do you pick out quality house paint without searching through
millions of exterior paint reviews? There are quite a few brands to
choose from including Behr, Ace, Sherwin-Williams, Dutch Boy and
many more. Which one is right for your home and will protect it from
fading, cracking, peeling, and give it that great curb appeal all at
the same time?
Exterior Paint Reviews
It is possible to choose quality paint without looking at all of the
exterior paint reviews on the market. First you must be able to
separate the difference between the paints. Paint is separated into
two main categories. There is the solvent-based (with oil or alkyd)
and the water-based (with latex).
This is not the only thing you must know about exterior paint that
the exterior paint reviews will not discuss. The sheen of paint is
also important. The degree of sheen that paint will have determines
the paints' light reflection and stain resistance. These categories
are gloss, semi-gloss, satin and flat. Gloss is tough, shiny and is
great for trim and shutters. Although this paint will grab your
attention it will also show all imperfections. The semi-gloss has
the same quality as the gloss. It is just less shiny.
Satin is a perfect choice for new siding because it is easy to clean
and has an even amount of sheen. For the surfaces that have many
imperfections the flat paint will do the job. It is a popular choice
for vinyl and aluminum siding. This paint is also much easier to
touch up than the rest. Some question the durability of the flat
paint. Most agree repainting occurs more often with the choice of
flat paint.
Priming some surfaces can also help your paint to adhere better. If
you are having a hard time with exterior paint reviews, the best
option for paint advice is a professional paint advisor such as the
ones at hardware stores, paint retailers or your local home
improvement center. |

Wallpaper Borders with
Wainscoting Create Room Elegance
You can achieve elegant room décor by matching wallpaper
borders with wainscoting. Simple painted walls look very plain
even when using colorful paints. At one time, wainscoting was
seen only in very expensive homes, but it's now used in all
size of houses as a way to add a decorative touch. When the
wainscoting is offset with wallpaper borders, it looks like
the room was decorated by a professional interior decorator.

Painting Over Wallpaper When
Stripping is Impossible
Painting over wallpaper is sometimes the best route to take
when removing the wallpaper might damage the wallboard. It can
also be the best choice when you are unable to spend the time
it takes to remove wallpaper, or are uncertain if it can be
removed safely. Some people recommend you never paint over
wallpaper because the paint can cause the wallpaper to buckle,
but if you do the job right, the chances of that happening are
slim.
