Curtain Adaptation
Window treatments don't fit? Whether you've moved, mislaundered
or bought the wrong size, I have some simple alterations that
will save you the trouble and cost of replacement.
1. If your curtains fit the window width and simply are
too short there are a couple of things to try. Using a quick
stitch or even a straight pin secure some ribbons across the top
of your panels for an easy tab top addition that will give you
just the extra length you need. If ribbons are too foofy for
your room, pick up some clip-on-rings at your local home
improvement store. They'll give you that extra bit of length you
need and all you do is clip them onto the existing panel!
Couldn't be easier!
2. For really small curtains that don't fit any window,
think valance! Depending upon the length, you may not even have
to alter them. Size them up to the window, if you like the
length, just hang them up. If you think they're too long, fold
over the top and make a new rod pocket with some thread or
fusible web.
3. Don't want to make a permanent change, try draping the
curtain over the rod from the back to the front and add a length
of ribbon or trim across the two hems you've just created to
give some dimension.

Glass Tiles for Energy Savings – Poor Conducting Makes Great
Cents!
Not too many people consider glass tiles first when remodeling,
yet there are ways to use glass tiles for energy savings. In
fact, the increasing popularity of glass tiles in the home is
directly related to environmental issues. There are many
companies that are making glass tiles out of recycled glass.
It takes less energy to make a new tile from recycled glass
then it does to produce a new tile from scratch. In the home,
glass tiles can be used as extra insulation on the wall or
floor while adding a decorative touch.
