Clog Busters
Everyone gets a clogged drain now and then. Well, I have some
tips to help solve the problem and keep it from happening in the
first place!
1. If you have standing water, use a wet dry shop vac to
suck the excess out of the tub and the drain, this way all that
goo won't go back down the drain once the clog is cleared. Plus
if the clog is near the surface it may just clear up the whole
problem!
2. Once the water is gone and you can see what you're
dealing with, remove the drain cover. This tub doesn't have one,
but if you have a stopper it's probably filled with hair and
gunk. Remove as much as you can and then soak it in white
vinegar to clean it.
3. If you don't have a stopper you'll need something to
reach down into the drain to clear the way, a crotchet hook or a
wire coat hanger will work well. Slip it into the drain, spin it
around and pull up whatever you can. (A little tip, if you
choose a crotchet hook, tape a string to the end of it so if it
happens to slip you won't lose it down the drain).
4. Once you've removed any problems near the surface, use
a plunger to clear up any clogs further down the line. Then
flush the drain with hot water to make sure it is flowing
freely.

Whirlpool Tub Plumbing Tips
Before you begin, consider your skills as a carpenter and
plumber. If you are the average weekend home repair mogul, you
may want to sit this project out. You will need a lot of
skills with big, powerful tools like soldering tools and a
mini tubing cutter. Also, you will need to understand the
basics of plumbing and carpentry. If you aren't completely
comfortable with using tools like this, you should definitely
consult a construction professional or a professional plumber.
