Cleaning Porcelain & Alabaster

Porcelain and alabaster are precious surfaces that can be found in many homes. But, they can be hard to keep clean. I have some easy ideas to help.

1. For general cleaning on porcelain surfaces, try a sponge dipped in plain baking soda or lemon juice.

2. For stains, mix together three parts cream of tartar and one part hydrogen peroxide. Spread the mixture over the stain and let it dry thoroughly. Then you can just wipe it away with a soft cloth and some hot water.

3. You could also try some dishwasher detergent. Wet the surface and sprinkle some detergent over the stains. Then use a sponge to scour away the stain.

4. As for alabaster, this is a surface that looks like marble, but can be easily scratched and damaged. So it needs a little TLC. Dust it frequently with a soft cloth or feather duster.

5. If you find some stains, dip a moist cloth in borax and gently rub them out. Then, you can rinse the piece with warm water.
